2026 Appalachian Christmas Outreach

Crosspointe Baptist Church is excited to participate in the 2026 Appalachian Christmas Outreach, a ministry effort designed to share the love of Christ and meet both the physical and spiritual needs of children and families living throughout Appalachia.

The Appalachian Coalfields Ministry works with churches across the state to provide Christmas backpacks filled with new clothing, food, toys, hygiene products, and other gifts. Each backpack also provides an opportunity to share the Gospel message with a child who may otherwise receive very little for Christmas.

The statewide goal for 2026 is to collect 26,000 backpacks for distribution to Appalachian children in December.

Crosspointe Collection Dates

Crosspointe Baptist Church will collect items and completed backpacks from:

October 18 – November 1, 2026

We encourage our church family to begin collecting items now and help us make this year's outreach a tremendous success.

Items to Include

Each backpack should be prepared with the same care you would give to a gift for your own child or grandchild. Please provide new items only and include something from each of the following categories:

1. New Warm Clothing – A winter cap, gloves, two to three pairs of socks, and a scarf.
2. Pop-Top Cans of Food – Three to four metal pop-top cans, such as ravioli, tuna, beef stew, vegetables, or fruit.
3. New, Age-Appropriate Toys – Examples include small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, puzzles, jump ropes, sidewalk chalk, Slinkys, card games, and Legos. Please do not include toy weapons, pocketknives, or other blades.
4. Hygiene Items – Toothbrush, soap, washcloth, brush or comb, full-size shampoo, toothpaste, and deodorant. Please place these items inside a one-gallon zip-top bag to prevent leaks.
5. Fresh, Wrapped Candy – Please do not include chocolate that could melt or peanut products due to allergy concerns.

For older youth, an age-appropriate gift may be substituted for a toy.

Don't Forget a Bible

One of the most important items placed in each backpack is a Bible. These backpacks are about more than providing Christmas gifts. They are an opportunity to share the hope of Jesus Christ and remind each child that they are loved.

Every backpack is a gift of love and an opportunity to share the Gospel.
